New School Year

Schools around the country are gearing up to start a new school year.  We are scheduled to have inservices next week, and the kids start the week after that.  I am excited because we have added a teacher with over 25 years of experience to our staff, but I am worried because we will each have 6 preps a day.  I have made a committment to do my best to help the students learn, and now, I am making a committment to take care of myself so that I can be better able to help them.

Spring break

Those two words offer a haven for teachers and students alike.  I went home for my break, and I ate a lot more of my Mother’s cooking than I should have.  Now I will have to work doubly hard to reach my goal, and during a very stressful time for teachers too.  We will be taking our state achievement tests at the end of April, and their scores reflect back on me.  Well, I had better go plan some awesome review lessons because we start back to class on Monday.  I hope that you guys are sticking to your goals in your own hectic worlds.

Another Update

I lost 2 pounds today, so that was good.  I’m exhausted though and a little sick.  School has started up again, and they are keeping me very busy.  In fact, they are scheduling me to pull kids in during the school day for tutoring on top of the tutoring they are getting after school.  I will be having 3 to 4 kids for forty five minutes during the school day (different kids each day) and then 7 to ten students every afternoon for an hour (again, different kids each day).  Well, I guess they are trying to give me more motivation to get my rear in gear and get more organized.  That’s about it for my little update.  I hope that you guys are having a spectacular day!  (Please forgive the unusual adjective; I am trying to expand my students’ vocabulary and it carries over to my everyday speech.)

A little about my birthday

Well, yesterday was my birthday.  I spent the day at a workshop in Austin or on the road for eight hours on the way back home.  We got in at 12:30 this morning and were expected to be ready to greet students for tutorials at 7:30.  Needless to say, I am dragging.  I still have a ways to go before I sleep though, so I had better get busy.  Hopefully, I will get caught up soon.

Short update

Well, school has definitely started.  My schedule keeps me busy with 5 totally different classes to prepare for, so I hardly have time for any nonessential activities.  I am happy that my weight has stayed the same for three weeks since I haven’t focused on what I’m eating or on exercising at all, but I would like to see it tip towards my mini goal.  Well, I’m off to bed now since I can barley keep my eyes open.

A new beginning

When I first joined this site, I lost weight by eating smaller portions.  I did pretty well at this for a while, but I’ve become too lax and as a result have gained back almost all the weight I had lost.  As tomorrow starts a new week, I want it to also start a new chapter in my weight loss experience.  In the way of food, I want to go back to smaller portions, to cut out regular soda, to increase my water intake, and to eat a more balanced diet.  In the way of exercise, I want to start by walking in the evenings.  Hopefully this will get me back on track.

Today’s weigh in

Well, I was a little saddened when I got on the scales today.  I went from 216 to 221, but I guess that I deserve it.  I haven’t been careful about what I’ve been eating for the past week.  I could make excuses like “I’ve been traveling to interviews several days this week” and “We had a family reunion this weekend; with lots of good (fattening) food”, but the bottom line is that I should have paid more attention to my food intake.  Oh well, I guess that this is more motivation to get some sort of exercise plan started.

Diet Derailment

Well, today I consumed more calories than I should have.

I work at a middle school, and am assigned to administer the state based assessment test everyday this week.  Today, one of my teachers brought me a surprise vanilla Dr. Pepper to help ease the stress.  It was too sweet a gift to say no to.  Then when my mother came home, she had brought me a Dr. Pepper Blended Float.  Again, I couldn’t say no.  Hopefully, it will all even out; I would hate to have gained weight on the first week of starting here.

My First Day!

Hello, I joined BuddySlim today because I want to find some way to hold myself accountable to my weight loss plans.  So far, this site looks very promising.
